Fixture’s Secretary Report

Division One

Only 17 fixtures left to be played and it’s tight at the top with Kirton pushing Torexe Buzzards all the way and currently topping the table. New Polish signings to a couple of teams could make things interesting further down the table. Exeter University was a no show on match day on 20th January against Kirton and Taunton One failed to return a match report for their match on 4th Dec against Kirton resulting in a £2 fine.

Division Two

Birdmen are currently in control of the Division but improving play from both Taunton 2 and Exeter University is making for some great matches and leaves second place currently held by Torexe Falcons up for grabs. WVC Lions forfeited a match against Birdmen when they notified them a couple of days in advance that they couldn’t raise a team for their match on 3rd Feb, which means that Lions has forfeited both their matches against the Birdmen. Taunton 2 have been docked another penalty point and a £2 fine when the score sheet for their match on 16th Dec against Lions was left in a school over Christmas and didn’t reach me until 16th Jan after I had to chase it and was still missing a match report. Channings Wood is finally getting a new roof, but this means that their sports hall has been out of action since 27th December and numerous matches have now had to be postponed  (5 so far in addition to the two against Lions from before Christmas when rain affected play). The sports hall is not due to be back in action until the end of March. This will not leave Denbury Eagles enough time to fit in their remaining matches before the end of the season.

Guy Patrick advised that there was no possibility of re-arranging the remaining fixtures, so all matches that have already been played would be voided and tables re-adjusted. Channings would also like to thank the league for being understanding and they look forward to next season with a leak free roof.

Press Secretary’s report

Lots of good quality games being played at present.

Thanks to the University team for putting out a squad to play against Guernsey . All local Junior players that showed enthusiasm got to play, there was some disappointment that nobody from Kings would play, this was attributed to the fact that a lot of young players will not travel.

Reminder that Men’s and Ladies tournaments running in April, possibility for individual players to be included in an All Stars team, if clubs cannot make up a full squad.

Beach Tournament being run on 13th July
