Secretary’s Report
Annual report has been submitted to S.W.League.
Current constitution states that the A.G.M. should be held in September. Kyle Alves from Kirton has submitted a letter to the committee proposing that the E.D.V.A. call an E.G.M. to vote on moving the A.G.M. to the month of July, which would require constitutional amendments. This proposal is also supported by Wanderers and Taunton V.C.
Therefore an E.G.M. is called for 7pm on the 7th July.
Treasurer’s Report
Will look into changing the current bank account with Alliance and Leicester as its not a good account.
Money not received yet from Birdmen.
Proceeds from the 2 Exeter challenges have been used to support the beach league, at the moment this is self financing.
Fixtures Secretary Report
Both leagues had a tight finish at the end of the season with Kirton beating Buzzards by 1 point and the Birdmen beating Exeter University by 1 point.
Will contact University for a contact name for next season.
Player of match award needs changing, there were 94 different matches and over 50% of these were
refereed by 3 people. Suggested option is similar to National League where both teams choose their player of the match from the opposing squad. The referee will then only sign the scoresheet when both names have been supplied from both teams. This should then give a wider viewpoint.
Committee voted on Birdmen being promoted to 1st division.
Proposed by Rachel Swindell, 2nd by Simon Padley, All in favour.
Existing Rule 3.10 - additional wording in bold and underlined
3.10 Within the First Division of the Mixed League the fixture must be played with an EVA legal net and have an reasonable amount of room and height, any exceptions the committee reserves the right to review on a case by case basis. There will be no restriction on other Divisions other than for safety reasons.
New Rule
3.12 At the end of each match each team is required to nominate a player from the opposition for Player of the Match, guidelines can be found on the web site in the Document about Player of the Match Award. The team should state which team they are and who they are nominating, preferably by shirt number and name. This can be written either in the box currently headed "Referee's Player of the Match" or in "Captain's comments / complaints". The 1st referee should ensure that both teams have completed this, as well as both team captain's signing the scoresheet, before signing off the scoresheet themself.
Tournament Secretary’s Report
Both end of season challenge tournaments were a huge success, with the men’s being oversubscribed. Hoping to introduce some ladies events next season as there are some new developing squads in the area.
As yet there are no entries for the junior beach tournament.
An approach has been made by Guernsey under 18’s for a return fixture in the forthcoming
season and we have been asked to host the South West Beach Junior Champs, possibly in August.
Press Secretary’s report
The beach website is separate from the E.D.V.A. site.
Beach league running well with 7 nets up each week, lots of ladies playing and 50% of players under 20yrs old.
D.R. feels that there should now be a post on the committee for Beach League Organiser
but this would also need to be changed in the constitution.
There is a possibility that a beach coaching course could be run in October which would run over 2 days.
A..O.B.
Still no response from Marjon re next season.
Old net from Exeter school has been donated to Crediton school for Junior.
E.N. wanted to report that the E.D.V.A. Social at the Riverside which was well supported by Taunton and Torexe was a really nice event.
NEXT MEETING E.G.M. 7PM 7TH JULY / A.G.M. 7.15PM – COAVER CLUB
